Challenge

Happy Paradise is Chef May Chow's idea of a neighbourhood hang out - a re-imagination of a wildly creative yet casual Chinese dining experience. Happy Paradise takes pride in serving boldly creative Neo-Chinese food, inventive Chinese-inspired cocktails, good vibes, great music in a fun neon setting. They needed to redesign their menu to better suit operations of the restaurant customers and business.

Solution

kith&kin have a continuing partnership with May Chow. Since Happy Paradise is a throwback to Hong Kong in the 80s and is inspired by film and music, we wanted the menu design to reflect this era.

Our design was inspired by the typical puffy brown pleather menu booklets with laminated pages seen in many old Cantonese restaurants, but we added a twist with the bright colours of blue and hot pink. Happy Paradise is a homage to retro Hong Kong and so we wanted the menu designs to be a reflection of that.
