Alvy’s

Bringing New York, the home of pizza to Hong Kong.
Visual Identity
Challenge

Alvy’s is a convivial craft beer bar and contemporary pizzeria evoking the mood of a classic NYC bar with local Hong Kong accents. Alvy’s wanted to bring a slice of New York straight into the heart of Hong Kong in a way that delights more than just the taste buds.

Solution

The Alvy’s team had gone on a pizza research trip in New York prior to the opening of the restaurant to fully understand the art of New York pizza. They wanted a wholly authentic New York experience for their diners. kith&kin’s role was to develop a comprehensive brand experience that represented Alvy’s sophisticated yet laid back demeanour.

The result was a simplistic logotype in bold red to replicate the neon lights commonly found in old New York. Our vision was to make Alvy’s the neighbourhood spot where pizza lovers come to fall in love with an authentic slice of NY pizza and a cold local brew. This concept was spread throughout the identity, from menus to signages to postcards, as a true homage to Annie Hall/Brooklyn.

As for the logomark, the result was a simplistic Gotham logotype in bold red to replicate the neon lights commonly found in old New York.

Impact

After their successful opening, Alvy's is now known as some of the best pizza in Hong Kong. They are also known and well respected for their wide beer and whiskey selection.
